For this episode on Media Nouveau, I was the producer, Jake was the assistant producer, and Andres was the line producer. Because I was the producer I selected the topic we would be talking about. I knew I wanted to pick a form of media that had to do with food and that a lot …
Vox and Exploratory Journalism
In this week’s episode of Media Nouveau, we describe and analyze the digital news publication Vox. This news source has lead the way in the new media field of “explanatory journalism” where articles are written with more analysis and insight than previous methods of news delivery. We also analyze the changes Vox itself has made to cater to the audience’s changing consumption of media and how that defines its niche in the new media realm. We discuss its divergences from old media forms, and how this may be problematic. Linked below are some excellent sources, fun reads, and references to our bad jokes made throughout the episode.
The Verge and New Media Company Revenue Reflection
For this podcast, The Verge and New Media Company Revenue, Vishaal, the main producer, suggested different new media companies and together we decided to focus on The Verge. The Verge is a part of the Vox Media company, which is the topic for the podcast produced by the other group during the same week as […]

New Media Podcast Reflection
**SoundCloud Link to come** Creating a podcast was an entirely new adventure for myself. I have listened to countless podcasts over the years, yet I was completely unprepared for the other side of podcasts. I was immediately intrigued by this new media platform because I had worked in a pediatric office before, and HIPAA was strictly enforced to all of the workers, and so I thought it would be very interesting to talk about PatientsLikeMe…

Spread it on Reddit reflection
We decided to base our podcast on a popular website so that the audience would be familiar with our content, making it more likely that we would keep their attention. We chose Reddit because it is unique. As we discuss in our podcast, Reddit is not a modern version of a newspaper, radio, nor any …
Reflection: PatientsLikeMe Podcast
This week, Dami and I created an episode of Media Nouveau in which we examined the website, PatientsLikeMe. Dami and I are both interested in health & medicine (Dami would like to go into nursing and I, public health), so we were both fascinated, yet befuddled by the idea of a website that breaks the typical …
Reflection: Casey Neistat
This week on Media Nouveau, Jake and I decided to focus on vlogging and its growing impact on New Media, specifically through renown vlogger and fun-enthusiast Casey Neistat. Going into the episode, we challenged our listeners by asking them “How did Casey Neistat become so successful?” and delved into potential explanations for his prosperity on […]
